Slow PLDT DSL

For the last 4 days now, my 1Mb account from PLDT DSl crawled to the point that a dial-up’s more enticing. And tech support’s unbelievably unreachable.
Yeah, this is a fscking rant!

Amen to this!
Have the same problem too… talked to a PLDT Customer Service and all they want to know is the result of SpeedTest.net testing.
They will ask you to connect to a specific server like Singapore which gives a nice output like 60kbps tops but when your browse, download or stream using youtube… very very slow.

PLDT Tests your speed (in mbps) to the gateway you connect through- and yes it is up to “what you pay for” but what PLDT (and other ISP’s don’t tell you) is how fast their trunk line to the NET is. Imagine if an ISP only has a 1Gbit/sec line and there are 1000- 3Mbit/sec users.. All those 1000 3Mbit/sec users will share that single 1Gbit/sec line. The more users they add to the ISP’s network w/o increasing the trunk lines, the slower connection to the NET each user gets. Then there’s the topic of the higher ISP’s lines as well that’s shared by ISP’s or branches of an ISP per city.

PLDT DSL is a fraud.
In October, Internet was out for THREE WEEKS! I called almost everyday, pleading for them to fix it. AND they had the audacity to charge me for the three weeks that I didn’t have internet for. When I called to ask for a rebate, they said that it was subject for approval and that it MAY reflect in the next bill. It did not reflect. I called again and they said again that it may reflect in the next bill. Now its December, I’ve had intermittent internet for the past two weeks. When I say intermittent, I mean 4 days off, one afternoon on. I called to report it, every single day to no avail. They keep saying that they’ll send someone or that they’ll call back, but they never do. I asked if they would give me a rebate and they said that the bill would have to come out first before I could report that they charged me for days that I didn’t have internet. If you have the option not to get PLDT, just don’t do it. Its not worth the hassle. PLDT DSL is a fraud. They charge you for services that they do not provide.
