Smart Plug N Talk
I just saw this advertisement from Inquirer and got curious with its technology. Reminds me of Skype, but without the freebie.
They call it Plug N’ Talk, a product of Smart Telecoms.
It’s the practical application that intrigued me at first, mostly because I work in the Radio Room, Communication or Command Center for those who are not familiar with the term Radio Room. We have internal VoIP Phones, 2 Landlines, a Fax machine, and an Ericsson cellphone (K610i) we’ve been using with My Phone Explorer. The only two things missing are Email and Instant Messaging.
The FAQ specifically states that it doesn’t work with Linux, but if you take a close look at the ad, you’ll notice that the desktop behind the model has KDE.

That’s right, I can clearly see a couple of Konqueror icons and the panel’s unmistakably KDE-ish.
So what’s the real deal here? Does it work with Linux or not? Even with WINE? Anyone ever tried, or at least willing to try it out? Again, I just hope it works, the only drawback’s stable internet connection – which our office can’t meet (hundreds of employees sharing a 1Mbps connection).

actually the skuku solution is cheaper, because in smart plug and talk you can only use the standard smart rate of 8 pesos per min to cell phones, in the skuku solution you can use any network and all of the network promos such as 1 peso calls. so if you call for 15 mins a day that is already P3600 pesos a month. while in skuku you can use sun call and test unlimited and only pay 300 pesos a month
