Auditory Freedom

A few days ago, Severed Fifth’s Denied by Reign was released under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike. But before the album’s debut, Jono Bacon (the band’s leadman) re-licensed LugRadio under a similar license. This means you can legally download, share, copy, remix, mash-up and sell Denied by Reign, legally being the keyword here. This is an exploration into what is possible when an independent artist releases their work in the new music economy.
Just a warning to anyone who dislike Speed Metal though, it ain’t for you. You’re better off sticking with Rihanna or Mariah Carey. Trust me on this!
Like all songs of this genre, you can barely understand the lyrics, but the energy is unmistakable and rage prevalent – just the way I like it. I find Denied by Reign a freakish marriage between Slipknot and Sepultura with Slayer as the wanting mistress. Already, Take the Test finds itself on my code music (the playlist I listen to when coding). And all in all, I’m loving it – both the music and my freedom symbolized by this album.
You don’t have to like or even listen to Severed Fifth, but if you value your freedom, at least digg it!
