The 14-yr old kid, version meltdown, and LTS
Filed under: Community, Ubuntu
First off, let me congratulate Smarter for passing the Kubuntu New Member Process. As far as I know, you’re the youngest Kubuntu member. Keep up the good work, your contributions are very valuable to the community.
During the Kubuntu-Devel meeting, I started downloading the Hardy Dec22 Daily Image, and I’m now burning it to disc. I’m sad to learn that KDE4 isn’t included by default, but that’s fine, I can easily apt-get it but only after backing up my /var/www and /var/lib/mysql, good thing I don’t have to backup my /home since it’s already on a separate partition.
And I’m aware that I’m a wee bit late regarding the LTS discussion, I’d just like to voice out my opinion that whether or not the community was consulted, this is a still a good move. Since Kubuntu would go KDE4 anyway, why not start now? This would be a good time to test it. And I’ll have a grand time reporting and triaging bugs.
