After waiting for a few months, I finally got my access to Mekong (courtesy of Zak – Thanks dude!). First things first, I edited wikiconfig.py and unlock my account (it lacked Read and Write privileges, just Admin). I checked our wiki and panicked! It was full of errors, I initially thought I was the cause of it. I checked the error log and found out that the errors happened 2 hours (around 1300H – server time) before I first logged in (around 1500H – server time) to Mekong. I tried to figure out what to do, the error.log said it has something to do with .htaccess, since I’m not on the sudoers list, I enlisted the help of Soumyadip in creating .htaccess. The error didn’t go away. I decided to try and install MoinMoin on my sandbox and study it before I touch our production wiki. It’s a futile attempt, the docs are great, but I just can’t seem to follow the instructions. Oh I can install it from Apt and make it work by following the Server Guide, but I have to work with the tarball since that’s what’s installed on Mekong. I gave up after a few hours and checked our wiki, the errors are more complicated this time. Zak was trying to fix it too.
This morning, Zak informed us all that he finally fixed it. And he placed my account to the sudoers group, so I wouldn’t have to bother anyone else. After enabling DeletePage, I went ahead and removed the spam pages. But I’m not done yet, I logged in to shell, grepp(ed) the usernames of spammers, and rm’d them.
Now that I’m finally done with the wiki, I’ll start with Drupal tomorrow.
