Ubuntu-PH Site Upgrade

I’ve been spending the last few weeks planning and reorganizing Ubuntu-PH wikis and deleting spam comments. Yesterday, I’ve started working on the ubuntu07 template I got from the mother site. Well, no.. I’m not really  keen on spending too much time on that. It is, afterall, a community effort. And I’m taking my sweet time developing the template while waiting for comments and suggestions from the community. So far… none! The activity I’ve introduced in the mailing list and the Pinoy thread on Ubuntuforums, attracted potential members. New blood! And I’m seeing more members logging in #ubuntu-ph and translating projects.

Speaking of translations, I’ve created two howtos. Translate Ubuntu and Translate Individual Projects, and I’ll work on the Translate PO Files soon. I’m glad that some people find it useful. In my opinion, those are the much-awaited Howtos. Not everyone codes, so translation is the next best thing.

As for software development, I’ve recently started reviewing my Deitel’s C++ How To Program. A very good book, in my opinion. I’ve been reviewing chapters and validating what I’ve learned by also reviewing the C++ Primer and The C++ Programming Language. I’ve dropped reading the Sams C++ for Linux in 21 Days – it ain’t the book for me. This is in preparation for the Internet Caf
